What is the Kinly XR Studio?

The Kinly XR Studio is a range of turnkey XR solutions for creating immersive presentation, performance and teaching environments. It provides an innovative new way of storytelling and curating experiences.

By replacing a green screen environment with LED video displays, the technology allows presenters to be fully immersed in digital content and virtual worlds. Users are able to see their presentation content, colleagues and clients surrounding them, allowing conversations to become more natural and making subject matter content far more engaging.

Single user operation

The XR Studio can be operated by a single user enabling efficient one stop content creation.

The presenter is tracked and RGB lights follow them around the XR Studio volume.

The presenter controls the scenes form an intuitive UI on an iPad. PowerPoint, video, VC calls, AR Graphics are dropped in at the touch of a button.

Alternatively a full production crew can be engaged for bigger productions.

Content aware presentation

The XR Studio allows presenters to see and interact with the content around them. The presenters can concentrate on delivering their message and interaction rather than the blindness of a Green screen operation.

There are no post production green screen colour spill or keying issues. The output is final pixel captured in the camera lens.

The one take content creation is more efficient. Green Solutions can have higher post production costs and slower delivery times as creative decisions extend.

The XR Studio comes with a fully immersive 3D Training environment of 4 stages created using Unreal Engine. This is designed to help you get up and running immediately, working with the full capabilities of the technology.

LED volume

An LED volume with a camera installed in the corner of an office. The real camera position is tracked and the data linked to a virtual camera in a games engine.

Real time rendering

The virtual environment is mapped onto the LED walls and floor to the perspective of the real camera. As the real camera moves the virtual mapped content on the LED moves accordingly.

Extended Reality

Where the real camera doesn't see the LED pixels, the output is extended in Virtual Reality to a full 360 environment.

Fully immersive environments

The Kinly XR Studio environment is a limitless 360° virtual world, where hosts have complete freedom of movement and become fully immersed in their surroundings. A unique virtual set extension expands content beyond the physical LED environment, allowing the camera(s) to freely explore the virtual world, capturing a range of perspectives, or revealing additional content.

Easy to use

The user-friendly system can be self-driven via a highly intuitive touchscreen application, enabling a scalable operation. Intuitive - No prior broadcast training is required. From the moment the host step inside any nerves are forgotten as they are instinctively drawn to interact naturally with the environment and audience surrounding them. They will become naturally empowered to deliver their presentation in an authentic and engaging ‘one take moment’.

AR graphics

Augmented reality layers, such as 3D props, graphs or data can be incorporated alongside the presenter "on stage”, to emphasize and bring specific content to life. The presenter’s position is tracked on the XR Studio, allowing the AR graphics to appear in front of behind them as they walk around the AR graphic.

Any VC platform

The XR Studio is compatible with all video confercing platforms. The remote audience attending via video conference are fully visible alongside the host and presentation content, creating natural interaction through real-time eye contact, body language and active engagement.

Full body teleportation

Enhanced features such as full-body teleportation enable remote participants to be virtually transported into the environment from anywhere in the world. True metaverse as real hosts on the LED volume interact with full-body digital participants in a virtual environment.

Reduce travel costs and time

Have speakers full body teleport into your XR Studio from anywhere in the world rather than travel. The host and guest appear eye to eye. Travel costs, time and carbon emissions are reduced. In reverse, use a live 360 video feed from any location in the world as the XR Studio environment and have the presenter immersed a live remote location feed.

Marketing and localisation

Using the high refresh rate of the LED panels synched to the camera shutter angle multiple outputs can result from the same capture. Multiple images can be seen on the LED while the camera only captures one. Potential use cases include: Presenters can have prompts or autocue overlaid on the LED that are invisible to the camera. Different marketing sponsor logos or text can be output for different territories.
